From the house of McNett Tactical comes the Tactical Ultra-Compact Microfiber Towel, that is as useful as it is versatile. Find out more about this nifty item.
Design:
The McNett tactical towel comes packaged with two rubber loop bands, that are used to keep it rolled up, as well as a handy mesh toiletry type bag, that can fit both your towel and various added toiletries. The bag has two different zip pockets on either side. At the top of the bag, you have a hanger for hanging the bag. The towel is really well designed. It is available in 3 sizes: medium, large or extra large. We tried out the large version, which is 30×50 inches which is huge seeing as it really is insanely compact. You can roll it up or fold it into a tiny bunch that barely takes up room. It also features a strap that allowed you to hang the towel. Usually, a towel of that size, would be weighty, but this towel is as light as can be, almost an insignificant weight. It is available in 5 colors: Coyote, Navy, O.D Green, Sand and Terra Cotta.
Material:
The Towel itself is of very high quality make. It’s made out of silver treated microfiber, which in addition to being extremely light weight, is supposed to keep it from smelling and should prevent bacteria growth. Because of this, it eliminates the need of washing often and can sit at the bottom of your backpack without smelling bad, especially great for Military and hikers. The stitching on the sides is excellent. We dunked our towel in water to test how much water it can absorb and it definitely didn’t disappoint. It also dries incredibly fast. Because of the towel being microfiber, most of the water can be squeezed out prior to drying. This makes drying even faster. I have used this for over a year, and this material is definitely tough enough to hang in there for quite a while.
Comfort:
Seeing as it’s made out of microfiber, it feels nice to the touch. It takes some getting used to however. It feels a little weird drying off with a microfiber towel at first, seeing as it feels very slippery and awkward when first using it.
Storage:
The bag it comes with is super handy as you can pack toiletries that you would need with a towel That being said, it is a small bag and will not fit big bottles or items. Then again, the towel packs really small and McNett wanted to keep it in a compact package which is after all, the point. The towel and bag can both be hanged so it’s practical for storage. The pockets are meshed which is good if you inserted it before completely drying, but can also cause your towel to get wet or dirty before use.
Versatility:
There are a virtually limitless amount of uses for the McNett tactical towel. Besides the obvious use as towel, it can easily be used as a mat to sit on, as well as a blanket or liner. For the more outdoorsy types, it can be easily used to gather up supplies. It could also easily be turned into a shemagh or even used as a makeshift sling when utilizing the strap of the towel. I could imagine it even being used as weapon concealment, when nothing else is at hand. Lastly, microfiber is excellent for removing oil or dirt, not something I would like to use my towel for, but the option is there to use it as a cleaning cloth.
Price:
Running at around $25 for the large version, this Tactical Towel by McNett is an absolute steal. For people who want to avoid dragging around big, heavy towels that take a long time to dry, this is the perfect solution. For Military and hikers, this is a must-have item that will make life endlessly easier. Add to that the numerous other uses it has, and there’s really no reason not to get one.
