UPG16 | AR15/M4 Pistol Grip by CAA: Ultimate Grip for the Demanding

The UPG 16 Interchangeable Pistol Grip is meant to replace the stock pistol grip and brings a whole new concept of customization to the table when it comes to the M4/AR15 platform and an increased amount of possibilities.

Design:

The way this CAA Pistol Grip is designed, is in order to offer the maximum amount of customizability while still retaining the superb grip CAA prizes itself on having. Unlike most other, if not all grips, however, the CAA Grip wasn’t built on a one-size-for-all platform. Instead, they went for interchangeable front and back straps. Many handgun owners will be familiar with this concept. However, in handguns usually only the backstrap is interchangeable and not the front grip. Those who own a vp-9 or vp-30 by HK will be familiar with this system. They even have a similar look to them. Both the backstrap and the front strap come in three different sizes: small, medium and large. Seeing as you can combine different sizes for front and back you can make this grip the ideal size for your specific hand size. The back strap has two rows of large rectangle grooves, that help keep the back of your palm from slipping down the grip while sweating. The center of the grip is similar to the front grip part. It consists of deepened finger grooves where your fingers can sit comfortably, for a prolonged period of time without slacking or losing control. Within the grooves, there’s  great anti-slip texturing. On the bottom, there’s a rubber stopper that can be removed when peeled out for storage. It’s a little over an inch wide and about 5 inches in height.

Material:

The base material for the grip is high quality Polymer while the interchangeable straps are made out of tough yet supple rubber that can be peeled off and replace easily when needed. The advantage with supple rubber is that this CAA Pistol Grip performs better than most other grips when your hands get sweaty or under wet conditions as hard polymer tends to get slippery and thus leads to poor grip. The Grip is available in Black, Tan and Green.

Comfort:

Because of the customizability of the grip, the UPG 16 is as comfortable as a grip can get. Not only is it great for recreational shooters, but especially for military and LEO who may have to work with their gun for a prolonged amount of time. Using this grip, you’ll experience decreased fatigue and a stronger grip for a longer time. After long use in a single sitting, you may start feeling the lines between the straps, but because it’s soft rubber, it’s not too bad.

Storage:

The storage compartment at the bottom i similarly sized to other grips with storage compartments. The only real difference is the cover. You either love it or you don’t. It’s essentially a pull tab, that you pull out by inserting a finger in a groove and pulling down. The cover however, comes full off, and is not attached in any way, which is definitely a recipe for losing it, it’s only a matter of time. It is however, arguably a more accessible system.

Versatility:

While this design specifically is for the AR 15 platform, there are several different versions available for ak’s and the like. This is very useable by almost everyone and every size hand. There’s also an optional stand that is sold separately for added comfort.

Price:

Coming in at around $28, it’s a tad more expensive than regular AR Pistol Grips but is most definitely worth the little extra.

This fantastic grip is definitely recommended for anyone who doesn’t like the standard M4/AR15 pistol grip or someone who is looking for that extra great feel and comfort that only this CAA Grip can provide. Definitely Recommended!
