The Multitasker Series 3X is an exceptional multi tool that is truly a pocket toolbox custom built for the M4/AR15 platform. Read on below.
Design:
Packed in a nicely finished box, the first thing you’ll notice when taking it in your hand is how classy yet tough the 3X looks. The outer body is covered in G10 scales which gives it a great matte carbon fiber look. For those who are not familiar G10 scales are used both on knife handles and certain gun grips as it is slip-resistant and ensures a great grip. Starting from the outside, you have a tight metal clip which is perfect for attaching the tool to either Molle or a belt. The 3X features a knife which is easily folded out by means of a grippy metal stud and is smoothly locked into place and released by push safety. Made of high quality D2 steel, this knife is very durable and is guaranteed not to break easily. This is definitely the sharpest out-of-the-box knife we’ve ever seen. The way Multitasker designed the 3X, the knife can easily be deployed with the tool folded open because of the reverse opening; something which most companies get wrong. Measuring exactly 3 inches, this knife is actually perfect for EDC (every day carry) as it is exactly the allowed fixed blade length limit for many countries. Next to the knife there’s a carbon scraper (also with metal stud for easy access) that has a very nicely formed round edged tip which works wonders when cleaning both the AR bolt and going in for a deep clean inside the rifle and is really effective. Wedged between the knife and carbon scraper there’s the 3/32 pin punch which could be used for tasks besides the obvious. The pin punch can be unscrewed to make way for a male thread adapter to fit cleaning kits and the like which is handy. On the opposite side are the tools which really set the 3X apart from all its competition in actual ability to deal with rifle maintenance both on the range and in the field. Starting from the top, you have a castle nut wrench which is great for tightening those castle nuts on the buffer tube in case they get loose or just for maintenance. In addition, at the tip of the wrench, you have a large flat head screw driver because why not? Next is a wrench that works with most scopes and magnifiers and other items that use similar hex nuts. There are 2 included sizes that should cover you for most of the common scopes, sights and magnifiers. This is really super handy and invaluable to have out in the field. Last but definitely not least on the outside is the bit adapter. This comes standard with a front sight tool installed which works incredible for AR15 sights or any similar model really. We also tested it on the RONI by CAA and it worked fine on there too. The 1/4 inch adapter will fit any of the bits that come standard with the Multi Tool. Seeing as the adapter bit is magnetic, these slide right in and sit in there securely. The Series 3 comes with No.1 Phillips, 3/32 Slotted, 3/16 Hex, 9/64 Hex, 1/8 Hex, 7/64 Hex, T10 Torx, and T15 Torx on a nice external strip. Here’s where we get to the real kicker. Opening up the 3X, it reveals the very high quality steel pliers. Also made of D2 steel, these pliers are positively durable and easily some of the best on the market. What’s beautiful about this pliers design is that unlike most other pliers in Multi Tools, the teeth on either side sit perfectly on each other when closed which means you can forget about whatever you’re grabbing slipping out while working with it. Featuring aggressively edged teeth that are large in the back and get smaller leading up to ultra fine in the tip, you can use these pliers to work with literally anything, small or big. Using a CNC billet bearing, the pliers have very smooth action for use and no resistance whatsoever. In the back you have wire cutters that work excellent and because of their thicker design, won’t notch as easily as other types. They are also easily replaceable just in case.

Material:
Everything on the Series 3X is made only from top notch materials and the build quality is not something you’d see on the large majority of other multitools. The G10 scales used externally offer and excellent and quality grip which is paramount while using the tool. The 3X is made using CNC machining and aluminum bronze washers. It also offers a special rust-resistant TiCN treatment to prevent corrosion and general need for maintenance. There’s no better experience than feeling those high quality rivets roll open and closed when folding the 3X. Yes, the 3X packs quite some weight, but there’s no doubt that it’s because of the top-notch materials used, a sacrifice easily made.

Comfort:
The G10 scales offer a comfortable and solid grip on the tool when using it and the inside edged are well rounded to allow for comfortable tool and knife use (see pic below) when folded out. The lack of extended or sharp edges make for comfortable carrying, both in hand or in your pocket.
Storage:
While offering a handy clip that can be used effectively with both Molle and a belt, the Multitasker 3X does not come with a pouch unfortunately. Because of its width, it also doesn’t fit in most pistol mag pouches. Indeed, most people will be fine carrying the tool using the clip but when operating in areas where you’d like to keep dirt and sand out, this is problematic. Usually finding a slightly wider or stretchy tool pouch will do the trick but it would have been nice to have a nice custom made Molle pouch for this.
Versatility:
While most so-called “AR-15 tools” are really just regular multitools with one or two attachments that can be used for the rifle, the 3X is built solely for this purpose. This is fantastic for people looking for an AR-15 platform specific multitool as this offers this exact no-nonsense approach. It would definitely not find much use for people who don’t own a rifle but that is exactly the point. This is a shooter-oriented tool that does its job and doesn’t try to please everyone.
Price:
The Multitasker series 3X has an official MSRP of $180 ($150 in some places) which is definitely not cheap but if you’re a gun enthusiast, especially if you’re using the AR15 platform, this is worth every penny. The quality and love this tool was made with is a clear indicator of the price and can’t be understated. The phrase “you get what you pay for” has never rung more true. Not only will this tool last you forever but it comes with a ‘no questions asked’ return policy.
On the market today, you won’t find any multitool as shooter-specific as the Multitasker Series 3X. It is really a rifle toolbox for when you’re on the range or in the field, whether civilian or Military/LEO. There’s nothing that portable available with as many options offered as this. Coupled with outstanding build quality and a smart design that rivals all competition, this is one multitool you won’t regret getting. Highly recommended!
